Rebecca Smither, PhD Candidate

Outreach Coordinator

Rebecca is a PhD candidate in Education Leadership, Policy, and Lifelong Learning at the University of South Florida, with a concentration in health education. Her research focuses on arts-in-health, exploring how lifelong engagement in the arts builds neural infrastructure to support cognitive health among older adults. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree and Master of Science degree in Health Education and Behavior from the University of Florida and is a Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES).

Rebecca joined the Comprehensive Center for Brain Health at the University of Miami in 2022 as Outreach Coordinator and launched the CCBH creative arts outreach program to provide evidence-based arts learning activities to older adults in Palm Beach and Broward counties. She continues to implement CCBH’s arts engagement workshops and programs, and also develops and disseminates print and digital communications and materials to expand public awareness and participation in CCBH’s educational events, outreach activities, research opportunities, and clinical care services.
